Giving Thanks....

Well I thought that in the spirit of Thanksgiving I would mention a few things that I am so very grateful for....

*Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.

*The gospel in my life-I don't know what I would do with out the influence of the gospel in my life

*My dear sweet husband David...we have had some hard times and some very good times and he has loved me through them all. In these past (almost) 2 years we have come along ways and have learned much about each others, ourselves, and marriage should and shouldn't work, and I can't wait to see what the future has instore for us.

*I am grateful for my siblings- all my brothers and brother and sister-in-laws. Everyone adds something special to the family. I couldn't have asked for better family.

*My parents- (espically my mother)I never realized how much they sacrificed for me until I was married and on my own. I owe so much to them, for help me become the person I am today.

*My in-laws-Scott and Julie, I couldn't have asked for better in-laws. From my first date with David they have treated me like family. I have never felt unloved or unwelcome, and that I will always be truely grateful for. They are always so willing to help us out and do what ever they can to help us (even while they are in Cambodia)

*Friends-I don't know what I would do with out my friends. Espically the ones that I have down here in Provo. I have had so much fun with them, going to lunch, dinner, movies, or just hanging out. I have loved it, and I am so greateful for all of them.

*My body-I don't realize how blessed I am until I am sick, or I see someone who doesn't have it as I do. I am grateful to be able to walk, and run, and talk and see, and hear, and taste.

*The power of pray, and the power of tithing. I have seen the many miracles and blessings that have come from both of these things.

*Power of the priesthood-I have grateful for the blessings that I have also seen come from this, in both my life and in the life of others.

This is just of the very few things that I am grateful for, and there are so many more that I can think of but for lack of time I will leave it at this.

New (happiness to my heart) Moon

Well...I am proud to say that I attended the 12:03 showing of New Moon with my very good friend Holly. Oh my hanna it was so fun! We waited in line for a while. It was kinda cold but we didn't care. We sat in blankets and played checkers and guess who. The movie was so much better then the first one. We got such good seats, and I was so proud of Holly for going out of her comfort zone and yelling for Jacob when he came on screen.
Also just to make it clear... I am a team Jacob fan with when we are talking about the movie, but I am a teem Edward fan all the way when we are talking about the books

2nd attack in self defense....

So......I was attacked again today, but this time I got pictures!! This guy wasn't the same as last time but not any smaller.
I have learned a lot in my self defense class and would encourage every woman to take a class like this. I have become a lot more aware of my surroundings and how to not look like a victim. Everything in this class can be applied to real life and I feel that if I was in a scary situation I would be able to handle it. But hopefully I wont have to test my skills:D
This is my attack....

Everyone in the class wanted my teacher to try so this is of him...

GREAT NEWS!!!!

DAVID HAS FINALLY PICKED A MAJOR!!!!
.
WILDLIFE AND WILDLANDS CONSERVATIONS
.
He is so excited, and I am so excited! We feel that this major is the perfect fit for him because it is something he would love doing for the rest of his life! Before Scott and Julie left for Cambodia on a mission, Scott gave David one last blessing, and in that blessing he told David that he would find a major and be excited about it. Well he has tried many different majors and after much trial and error he has found one that excites him, which then excites both of us!
I am so excited to see what adventures will come of this..for the both of us!

So my latest adventure....SEWING!!!!

I have a good friend that is prego, and because she is such a good friend I wanted to do something special for her...so I decided to make her baby girl a blanket! It was so fun! I bought and cut out the material and with the help of my wonderful mother she helped me make it look perfect
(for a first time blanket like this) I really liked sewing and I decided that I am going to make me a skirt AND for Christmas I am going to make David and I some matching PJ bottoms. I am so excited!! Hopefully it will turn out!!

Well Half way through the semester….

Let me tell you….I am wore out! I have already decided that 14 credits and 7 classes is way too much for me. So I registered for classes next semester and I am only taking 12 credits and only 3 of the 4 classes are at school. I am so excited. I just have to make it through two more months! Classes are going well though, I have my first test in my accounting class next Tuesday….yeah I said FIRST test. Math....that is a different story...I have already had 5 tests but the good news with those test is I can re-take them for points. All my other classes are good. I am LOVING my self defense class. I have my 2nd attack tomorrow (I will take pictures) and my exercise class I love going to. Thanks to a wonderful husband who holds the priesthood and is more than willing, anytime I need, to give me a blessing.

Davids semester.......... in his own words "I don't like it". The poor guy...took on a tough schedule. His anatomy and physics are trying to get the best of him. BUT david is a fighter and he works hard. I know he will make it through with flying colors.

I married such a wonderful man. Not only does he go to school full time, he works, and helps around the house. He is always happy and is always making me laugh. I LOVE HIM!!!

Davids hair is gone....all gone....at least in one spot anyway!!

David was giving himself a haircut on Halloween before we left to head up north to see family and while he was cutting it he thought he was done so he took off the 3" tip thing, then felt his hair, and thought that a part needed a little bit more trimming, so he picked up his buzzer and started to "trim" and just has the buzzer he realized that he didn't put the tip back on. The poor boy. He was horrified. Where he cut is to far up to shave up but it is big enough that people will really notice. His hats don't cover it, and he doesn't know what to do. I say we should carve the word I C E in his hair...I think it would fit nicely and look real cool.
At church today David got lots of questions about what happened and one of the guys from the ward offered to fix it. David took him up on it, and even though he didn't make the slice disappear he made it less noticeable. His slice isn't near as noticable and
I think he looks fanstatic!

You wanna know what David and I will look like in 50 years....here is a preview...

So for Halloween I was having the hardest time coming up with a good costume for both David and I. I will admit I am one of those people that loves couple costumes and David is always so good to go along with it. But this grand idea of a future idea I got from my wonderful mother-in-law while David and I were talking to her over the web came. David asked her what we should be and gave us this idea! It was a smashing hit. We made everyone laugh.

We are going to be one VERY good lookin' couple when we are older!

Happy Halloween!

The morning of Halloween I went to breakfast and watched a movie with some friends of mine, Amy Weston and Addie Condie. We decided that in the spirit of Halloween we would dress up and then come back to my apartment and watch Hocus Pocus. I had never been to Kneaders but they swore it was so good and so that is where we went. Amy talked up the french toast telling me it was some of the best. So I had to try it, and I was not let down. Thier french toast was delicious. We had so much fun, and the movie was great! We are all huge fans of Hocus Pocus! Breakfast and a movie....with wonderful friends.....what a way to start the day!

The 2nd annual Smedley pumpkin carving....

My PumpkinDavids pumpkin (sorry I don't know what happened to the rest of the picture. There is a hunted house under the bats. It looked so cool.)
Last year we had some friends come over for some Chilli and pumpkin carving and we had so much fun doing it that we decided to do it again this year.

David made some chilli (Holly Smedley's receipe and davids favorite chilli). He made two differerent batches one with ground deer meet and one with plain beef.

and to be honest the deer meat batch wasn't half bad.

After we had all finished eating we got our pumpkins out for carving. We had different patterns, and fancy tools to make carving very easy.

The pumpkins turned out so good! Daivd always puts in so much work into his and his looked fantastic!

Shelly Brown (after she had done her duty of cutting off the lid) went to work baking some pumpkin seeds! I had never had ranch flavored seeds before but they were delicious and I would recommend them to anyone.

David is on the far left. He carved a haunted house with bats flying and mine is on the far right and I carved a crow flying.

A good way to end a bad day....

After a long day of school, and not fairing to well on a math test, I officially deemed the day to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. So I called up my good friend Holly who had an equally terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day and we decided to not let it get the best of us and we went and had a girls night out dinner at Red Robin! And let me just tell you while we were there we had one of the best waiters I have ever had before. He was fast, and nice, and he brought us out french fries without being asked and before we had even ordered! He didn't hover but close enough that our drinks never got below half. He was excellent.
It was the perfect way to end a bad day.
Thank heavens for good friends!
