Braylee Sage Smedley....her birth story

The last pregnancy photo. Me at exactly 39 weeks getting ready to go to the hospital. At my last appointment on Monday we found out that Braylee had again turned head down and was in the right position. The doctor decided that we should go into the hospital later that week and he would break my water to hopefully get labor started.  He didn't want to wait to long because she was at risk for turning again. So we planned for Thursday but with a possibility that I might get to go in late Wednesday night depending on how the 3 other deliveries that my doctor had to do first. So I made sure I had everything ready and waited for the call.

Well sure enough the doctor called at about 4pm on Wednesday telling me that labor and delivery was going to call me soon to have be come in. We got to the hospital at about 6:15pm where they checked us in and got us all set up in the labor and delivery room. My doctor got suck at another hospital so we waited for him. At 9:15 he came in and checked me and the baby and she was head down so he went ahead and broke my water.

Two hours later he came back in to check on the baby. She was such a wiggle worm that the little monitors that they had on my belly they had to come in and readjust so they could hear hear. The doctor didn't like that we couldn't hear her very well and he wanted to put a fetal heart rate monitor on her head. So he got me all into position and just as he was about to put it on he let out a huge gush of water and Braylee moved into a sideways position. This was not a good thing. When the doctor felt me again Braylee had completely disappeared and he couldn't feel her at all. He gave me a half hour for her to turn back into position. After that half hour was up he came back in and the little stinker had put her hand right over my cervix and wouldn't move a centimeter. The doctor looked at me and told me that he didn't have a good feeling about it and felt that we just needed to take her. He said that there had to be something holding her so she couldn't move because it wasn't normal for a baby not to move into place for birth after loosing so much water and doing what we were to get her into place. So I consented and we started prepping for a c-section.

Delivery went well considering. I don't think I was completely numb because the whole time they were cutting into me and trying to get her out was EXTREMELY painful. I don't remember being in so much pain with Brantley. My mouth hurt from gritting my teeth so hard and I had the shakes for about 3 hours after labor. She was so stuck in my uterus they had to use forceps just to turn her so she could be pulled out. The doctor told David later there was no way that she would have ever turned. So it was good we did the c-section when we did. I got to hear her cry when she came out and David got some pictures of her when she was first born.
I even got to see her when she was all cleaned up. Something I really missed with Brantley
Our beautiful baby girl Braylee Sage Smedley was born at 12:25am.
She weighed 6lbs 7oz and was
18in long with a TON of beautiful black hair.

Brantley was so excited to see her. When he first walked in the door he held out his hands and said "baby" and gave her a huge hug.

Brantley just wanted to hold her the entire time he was here and got mad if someone took Braylee away while he was holding her.
We had lots of visitors

We are so glad to have her here safe and sound! We feel so blessed to have this beautiful baby girl join our family.

Smedley Family Reunion

Well obviously Braylee didn't come on the 12th, 13th, or 14th like I had originally prayed for. But prayers are answered, sometimes, in ways that we don't want. After my last appointment and finding out that Braylee was breach I decided I had missed out on enough family fun and wasn't going to miss the big Smedley family reunion. And boy am I glad that I went and didn't have a brand new baby to take care of. We had so much fun. I just absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE all of my Smedley family. We drove up Thursday night and went to the days  of 47 rodeo with Davids brother and sisters. Brantley loved watching the "neighs" and the cows.
The whole gang minus Grandma and Grandpa Smedley and Varci's husband Kevin and Kali's husband Taylor
Brantley loves his aunt Ka Ka.....he pretty much just wanted to sit on her lap all night long.

Some of my cute nieces posing with a real cowgirl!!

After that we headed up to Mountain Green where we got to stay in Davids Grandmas old house that they rented out for the big reunion. The house was huge and fit out group of about 85 people quite comfortably. We slept there for 3 nights. Brantley didn't do so well being in a strange place with so much noise but the second and 3rd nights were so much better thanks to the multiple fans we had going for white noise.

FRIDAY MORNING
Friday morning we woke up to a lot of family that had finally arrived for the big party and after breakfast we all headed over to a bowling alley that was rented out just for the reunion. Brantley wanted to ride the little carousal outside and he loved it but he love bowling even more

Brantley was such a good little helper carrying the ball and pushing it down the lane....I won't lie he did a whole lot better than I did!
He could hardly wait until his next turn

Some of my wonderful family. The cute girl in the purple shirt is named Letti....she just loves Brantley and Brantley loves her. She was so good to take him and play with him during the family reunion.

Our spoiled little man got to ride the carousel when we left too.
After we went bowling we went over to a park ate lunch and then those who wanted to went river rafting. I opted out because my little man didn't sleep well the night before he really needed a nap....(which he never really got because he refused to sleep because of all the extra noise in the house(this was before we got the fans)). David went though and he loved it. We just had a little trouble with the tubes. The family had the option of renting a tube and life jacket from a company but it was $20 and we didn't want to spend that. So we went and got some life jackets from my parents house and David borrowed a tube from a friend. We thought we were all prepared until we went and filled up Daves tube. As we pulled out of the parking lot it popped. We would have been fine but David lent his cousin the other tube he borrowed and we had already missed the deadline for renting a tube so we just had to buy one. Oh well.
David had a few good falls he got a good bruise on his knee and got a rock shoved underneath his little toe
Later that night we had dinner and a family devotional where we got to hear from Scott and Julie again about their mission. (I never get tired of hearing their stories). Then it was off to bed.

SATURDAY
Saturday was filled with just as much fun. Woke up to a delicious french toast casserole. David went and played basket ball. We had family pictures then it was off to a bowery that Grandpa Smedley helped build.

The bowery was right next to a horse field and of course that is right where Brantley wanted to go.
Brantley leading kids over to the horses.
We had a special speaker come talk to us about some of the things Grandpa Smedley had done. He was a great man and I wish I could have met him.

We then got to eat some delicious taco salad.

 and popsicles....

 Brantley loves popsicles

Later that day after we had taken a nap we went swimming.

Then after went back to the house and had dinner and I got to see one of the best parts of the house....
it is a heart shaped tube that is ginormous

Me and Polly, she is 10 weeks behind me!

We had just a fun time! So much hard work and planning went into this event and I am so grateful to all those that helped put it on. I can hardly wait until the next reunion!!
